Aquarium Thermometers

A thermometer is an important piece to your complete aquatic set-up in order to help maintain the health of your fish. Thermometers may be external, sticking to the outside of the aquarium with an adhesive, or be submersible inside your aquarium. Placement of your thermometer will depend on the location of your aquarium’s heater and should be on the opposite end of the tank from the heater, yet a location that is easy to check regularly. This will help you keep an eye on any temperature fluctuations that can be harmful to your fish.

Some thermometers may even double as gauges for other important parameters such as salinity for your saltwater aquarium. Your thermometer should be placed in the aquarium after you have set-up the heater, filter and have filled it with water. Once your aquarium has been set-up, allow 24-48 hours before adding any fish to ensure stability of temperature and water.
